About Sawasdee DC

“Sawasdee” (สวัสดี)  is the traditional Thai greeting, expressing warmth, kindness, and hospitality that are at the heart of Thai culture. Inspired by this welcoming spirit, Sawasdee DC is an annual celebration of Thailand’s rich heritage, traditions, and people in Washington, D.C.

Hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington, D.C.  the festival brings together the local community and visitors from across the region to experience the best of Thailand while celebrating the enduring friendship between Thailand and the United States. This year’s festival also aims to commemorate the 193rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the United States, as well as celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
